. John Rossman Crone, 88, of Warren, PA, passed away on Monday, June 28, 2021, at the John and Orpha Blair Hospice House. John was born April 11, 1933, in Franklin, PA, the son of the late Wilmer and Juanita Rossman Crone. He graduated from White Memorial High School in 1951 and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy in 1955. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany from 1957 through 1959. John was a highly regarded leader in the Warren business community, receiving numerous awards including the Warren County Chamber of Commerce Community Service Award. He was a well-known pharmacist at Cowdrick’s Drug Store, which became Crone’s Drug Store when he purchased it in 1987. John was extremely active in the Warren Lions Club, starting with his own induction in 1959. He served in numerous leadership positions, including President of the Warren Club and District Governor for area 14F. He had a particular passion for sight conservation and hearing research. Among his many awards, he was recognized by Lions Clubs International for distinguished service with their highest award: Ambassador of Goodwill. John’s service to the community extended beyond his business and beloved Lions Club. He served on countless committees for myriad organizations, with special devotion to the Salvation Army, the Boy Scouts, and Hospice. He was also a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Warren. John was an avid music lover. He played the clarinet in the University of Pittsburgh Varsity Marching Band and returned several times to march with the Alumni Band. In Warren, he played in the Elks Band. He was sure to start tapping his feet whenever the sounds of Pete Fountain or Benny Goodman were in the air. He also enjoyed singing in the choir at First United Methodist Church. John is survived by his wife, Shirley M. Parker Crone, whom he married on July 27, 1955; two sons, Mike Crone and his wife Debbie of Warren, PA, and David Crone and his wife Martha of Columbus, OH; daughter-in-law, Diane Crone, of Warren; seven grandchildren, Michael Crone, of Warren, PA, Stephen Crone, of Warren, PA, Laura Crone, of Los Angeles, CA, Madeline Crone, of Columbus, OH, Julia Crone, of Wilmington, NC, Rachel Crone, of Binghamton, NY, and Hannah Caleffie, of Concord, NC; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death in 2009 by a son, Alan P. Crone, and in 2021 by a brother, Charles Crone. Friends and family will be received at the First United Methodist Church, 200 Market Street, Warren, PA, on Thursday, July 1, from 5 through 8 pm, and for one hour prior to a funeral service to be held there at 11 am on Friday, July 2, with Rev. Dr. Mark Hecht, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery, Warren. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Warren Lions Club, P.O. Box 622, Warren, PA 16365; Hospice of Warren County, 1 Main Ave., Warren; or the First United Methodist Church, 200 Market St., Warren. My sincere condolences to Shirley and family. Many years ago, in the early 60's, I was the stock boy for Cowdrick's Drug Store. John and Bob Frickland were managers and I will always remember John's happy face. I had just graduated High School and was waiting a couple of years before College. John made a special impression on me about what to do with my life. I even joined Lions Club because of him. He was a tremendous role model, and so full of goodness. Rest in Peace, John.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of John. He truly demonstrated the love of Christ to everyone he encountered. His great smile and humor brought joy and laughter to me. My 4 years in Warren was filled with fun, friendship and love because of John and the Crone family. I could tell numerous stories about the many times we shared together. I know that my life was made better by Johns wisdom and friendship. Sandy and I express our sympathy for your loss, but we celebrate the his life knowing that he is singing and rejoicing in heaven. May your entire family be filled with the presence and peace of God. With great love, Bob and Sandy Shirey

Please accept the heartfelt condolences of the Kane District Committee on Ministry on John's transition to the Church Triumphant. John's long service to the Committee as well as the Board of Ordained Ministry has been a steady source of wisdom and grace for all members. While we join you in mourning John's passing, we are, at the same time, uplifted by the knowledge that his work will continue to bear fruit for years to come through the clergy that have come before the Committee while John was a member. May God's love sustain you during this season of grief.

Our deepest condolences!
We knew him as the Pharmacist who would bring surprise gifts to the door during Christmas times. Then as a Lion, he was such an inspiration to all fellow Lions.
May his soul RIP.
Remembering the family in our prayers.

John was the first boss I ever had. The rest held to high standard. He made working, as a senior in high school a joy! He was such a fair & noble man. No other boss has been quite the same. He will be missed.

My deepest sympathy to Shirley and family upon John's passing. I first met John when I joined Kappa Psi pharmaceutical fraternity of which he was Regent. He was a senior and I was a freshman at the University of Pittsburgh, School of Pharmacy. Our paths crossed a few years later when I moved from Erie to Warren to take a pharmacist position at Warren State Hospital and he was a community pharmacist at Cowdrick's Pharmacy. John was not only a fraternity brother but a good friend and a man devoted to his family, profession, church and community. May God grant him eternal life and peace for a life well lived.
