Kristin Lynn Johnson, 27, of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina, formerly Warren, Pennsylvania, passed away on December 31st, 2019 due to injuries sustained from a motor vehicle accident. She was born June 18th, 1992 in Warren, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Craig and Donna Hawks Johnson of Youngsville. Growing up she spent many years as a member of the Warren YMCA Powerhouse Gymnastics Team. Kristin graduated from Warren Area High School in 2011 where she excelled at tennis. She then attended Edinboro University for undergraduate and graduate studies. Kristin graduated Summa cum laude with her Bachelor of Science degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences, and then went on to obtain her Master of Arts degree in Speech-Language Pathology at Edinboro University. After graduation, Kristin followed her heart to be near the ocean, moving to North Carolina where she fulfilled her dream of being a pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist. Kristin touched the lives of all those she encountered and her students adored her. Kristin enjoyed taking her dog, Moose, on adventures, going to the beach, and spending time with her family and friends. Kristin's ability to relate to others around her and selflessness made her a true asset to the speech and language community and made her a great friend to many. She was also a member of the American Speech-Language Association. Even though there were miles between friends and family, Kristin's ability to always be present was one to be admired. She had her special ways of reminding those closest to her how much they meant to her and how much she loved them. And even though she was so far away, everyone knew she would always receive constant love and affection from her four-legged companion, Moose. If you have ever heard Kristin talk about Moose you just knew the bond they shared was more than just dog and owner, it was those of soul mates. Kristin is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather Milton Johnson, her maternal grandmother Janice Hawks, great grandmothers Katherine Kane, Marian Hawks, and her sister’s late fiancé Nikolai Briggs. In addition to her parents, Kristin is survived by a sister Kelly Johnson of Warren, Pennsylvania, her paternal grandmother Barb Johnson, maternal grandfather Ross Hawks, 3 uncles; Dennis Hawks, Bradley Johnson, and Milton Johnson, Jr., (Judy): four aunts, Debbie Hawks and her companion, Don Sturdevant, Diane Hawks and her wife, Kim Grey. Debby Gross (Greg), and Brenda Olson. She is also survived great aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Diane Hawks and her wife Kim Grey for all the love and hospitality they shared with Kristin during her time in North Carolina. Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc., 1003 Penna. Ave, East, Warren, Pa 16365, on January 8th, 2020, from 4pm to 7pm. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Thursday, January 9, at the Grace United Methodist Church, 501 Penna. Ave East, Warren, with Rev. Bill Beaty, pastor, officiating, assisted by Rev. James Crosley Burial will follow privately at the Warren County Memorial Park. A luncheon will follow at the Warren Eagles Club. Donations can be made directly at www.apraxia-kids.org or be sent to Apraxia Kids: 1501 Reedsdale Street, Suite 202, Pittsburgh, PA 15233 or the Grace United Methodist Church.

I had the pleasure of working with Kristin as she completed a hospital rotation with me a few years back. She had a special way of lighting up the room with her smile and laughter during her therapy sessions. Although I only spent a few weeks supervising Kristin, it was very clear how much she loved her family and those close to her. She will be missed but never forgotten. My condolences to all. ❤️
