James Andrew Lindell, 65, of Russell, PA went to be with the Lord on May 23rd, 2018 after a brief illness.  He was born on August 6th, 1952 in Warren, PA to the late Frederick and Marian (Anderson) Lindell.   A lifelong resident of Russell, Jim graduated in 1970 from Eisenhower High School.  After attending Penn State, he joined the Army and served for several years.  He returned to Russell and worked and retired as a Corrections Officer from the Warren State Hospital Forensics Unit.  He was a longtime member of Calvary Chapel of Russell.

Jim had a passion for firefighting and the forest that led him to serve as a fire warden and fire crew chief with the Forestry Service.  He battled countless dozens of forest fires over the decades all over the country.  Jim was also Russell Volunteer Fire Departments Firefighter of the year in 2013, having been a volunteer firefighter there for decades. He was also an avid hunter and enjoyed being in the woods.

Jim loved and was loved dearly by his wife of nearly 39 years, Brenda (Burnett), his sons Josh and Chad, his grandchildren Ash, Phoenix, Lily, Emma, Isaac, Connor and Claire, his sisters Becky, Gloria and Patty, several nieces and nephews, and many caring friends.  He was a hard worker, a mentor, a friend, and selflessly served all those around him.  As many have said of him – He is a good man.  Papa will be greatly missed.

At his request, there will be no funeral.  Instead, celebrate Jim’s life by doing something selfless and kind for your neighbors and community.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made the Calvary Chapel of Russell or the Russell Fire Department.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Jim was such a wonderful man. He was always willing to lend a hand to help my family out. Particularly to help with gathering maple sap. He will also be missed by Ben the had a good time hunting together. With deepest sympathy
