Thomas Ray Anthony, 68, of Warren, PA, died Saturday, May 10, 2014 after a lengthy battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Thomas was born June 18, 1945, in Ashtabula, OH, the son of the late Frank and Leona McCuean Anthony.
Thomas was raised in Conneaut Lake, PA. He graduated Conneaut Lake Area High. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and later worked for Lakawana Railroad. He had driven truck for various companies before owning and operating his own truck. He had also worked at Penn Dot for 12 years; the Rouse Home; and the Warren State Hospital, from which he retired in 1993, due to health complications.
Thomas had volunteered with many fire departments throughout his life, including The Greenwood Fire Company, in Geneva; the Tidioute Fire Company; and the Glade Fire Department. He was a Lieutenant in the Fire Police, and an EMT, as well as an EMT Instructor.
In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by three siblings, Nancy McDowell, Donald McDowell, and Percy Reed McDowell, who was killed in the Korean War.
Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc., 1003 Penna. Ave. E., Warren, on Wednesday, May 14, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, at which time, a funeral service will be held there, with Rev. Marcus Briggs, pastor and chaplain, Rouse Home and Warren General Hospital, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Russell, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Glade Volunteer Fire Department, 14 Hohman Rd, Warren, PA 16365.
