Sallie W. Briggs, 91, of Russell, PA, passed away on June 21, 2022, at the Kinzua Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on September 22, 1930, in Warren, PA, the daughter of the late Raymond and Mabel Rapp. She was a 1949 graduate of Warren High School. Sallie worked at the Russell Post Office as the clerk for 20 years.
Sallie grew up in the Grace Methodist Church and later became a member of the Russell United Methodist Church. She was a member of the women’s group, the Calvary Singers. She loved to knit and quilt, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.
Sallie is survived by her children Deborah Bloomgren and husband Jerald of Sugar Grove, PA, Joy Darr and husband Donald of Russell, PA, Karen Briggs of Knoxville, TN, and Linda Shepard and husband Richard of Bloomington, Ind.; grandchildren Jennifer, Tracy, Jill, Daniel, Anna, Wesley, and Macy; several great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Sallie is preceded in death by her husband Raymond J. Briggs (passed on August,2013), whom she married on January 13, 1957; son Gerry Briggs (passed on April 30, 2006); granddaughter Erin Briggs (passed on August 30, 2014); stepmother Ruth Rapp; and sisters Phyllis DeLong and Patti Rapp.
Services for Sallie will be announced at a later date.
