Robert W. Smith

Robert William Smith, 79, of Warren, PA, passed away Friday, December 1, 2023, at his residence surrounded by loved ones.

Bob was born September 21, 1944, in Warren, the son of the late William H. and Rachel C. Carbaugh Smith. He was a 1962 graduate of Warren Area High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years and was stationed in Turkey. Bob was employed as the staff supervisor for Penelec for 29 years from which he retired. During his retirement, he drove for Midtown Motors.

Bob was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, former member of B.P.O. Elks #223, and Mason North Star #241. He enjoyed the outdoors, scuba diving, and went skydiving over 25 times. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Bob was survived by his wife, Nancy J. Halle Smith, whom he married in 1963; children, Kimberly Ann Phillips and husband Denny, of Warren, Kelly Smith and fiance’ Timothy Chileski, of Pittsburgh, and Robert Smith of Wyoming;  his grandchildren, Britney Salapek and husband Jesse of New Hampshire, Todd Landree of Pittsburgh, Makayla Phillips of Warren, Kurtis Walter of Pittsburgh, and Kennedy Walter and wife Joanna Rivero, of Pittsburgh; sisters, Susan Arnold and fiance’ Jim, of Warren, and Sara Huckabone of Warren.

In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his brother, Thomas R. Smith.

 A private family funeral will be held, with the Reverend Jeffrey Ewing, pastor, First Lutheran Church, officiating.
