Richard LaVern Huckabone, 91, died at his daughter's house in Englewood, FL on Monday, January 16, 2023, following a brief illness. He was born on September 23, 1931, in the city of Kane, McKean County, PA, to the late Joseph P. and Ethel M. Huckabone. He attended school in Sackett and Starbrick, PA. He graduated from Warren High School in 1948. He then graduated from Coyne Electrical School in Chicago in 1949.
In 1952, he went to work at Warren State Hospital as an electrician. For the most part, he then worked at GTE Sylvania Plastics plant for 33 years as an electrician and foreman of a production department and the maintenance department retiring in 1991.
"Dick" was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Warren, PA. He also belonged to the Masons for over 50 years, being a 32 degree member and also was a past monarch of the Farrah Grotto. He also belonged to the Eagles as well as being a past member of the Elks and Blueberry Hill Golf Club. He enjoyed bowling and golfing so much in his earlier years that he needed an 8 day week. He cherished his trips with his wife to Alaska, Hawaii, Cancun and many other places, including golfing trips with Dot and Orlo Reider. He also enjoyed many golfing and bowling trips with his "buddies."
"Dick" is survived by his daughter Kristen Cady and her husband, Raymond in Chugiak, AK, a step-daughter, Barbara Emahizer and her husband James of Bear Lake, PA, and a step-son, Michael Jewart of Starbrick, PA, a sister, Johanne Forney, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, plus several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Nellie on December 30, 2015, whom he married on July 9, 1977, his parents, and a twin daughter.
Friends will be received at the Peterson Blick Funeral Home Inc., 1003 Penna Ave. E., Warren, PA on Sunday, January 22, from 4 to 6 pm and for one hour prior to a funeral service to be held there on Monday, January 23, at 11 am., with Rev. Jeff Ewing, pastor of the First Lutheran Church, officiating.
Burial will be in the Westview Cemetery in Starbrick, PA.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Warren, 1 Main Ave. Warren, PA.
