Although Melvin was an active man throughout his life, he especially loved to hunt, fish, and spend time with his family; most of all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One of the things about hunting, he looked forward to was hunting was going to Cherry Grove to the Eames family camp every deer season with his kids and other family members to “hunt”, stoke up the pot belly camp stove, and play Cribbage.   Having served in the Army National Guard as an electrician, he was also a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his children, Martin (Pamela) Durnell, Warren; Michelle Durnell, Russell and Mitchell (Donnette) Durnell; Jamestown, NY; 6 grandchildren, Anthony J. (Kristen) Durnell, Joyce L.
