Martha J. (Dutchess) Anderson, 95, passed away peacefully early Tuesday, November 23, 2021 in Lewisburg, PA. Martha was born in Kane, PA on November 29, 1926 to Charles R. and Ethel L. (Antonson) Dutchess.
Martha graduated from Warren Area High School in 1944. She went on to become the secretary for WAHS’s principal Floyd Bathurst. Martha married Robert L. Anderson in 1947. Robert preceded Martha in death in 2010 following 62 years of marriage. Martha served Conewango Township as Tax Collector for years as well as was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church in Warren, PA for 75 years where she held numerous positions in circles and on committees. She was a Girl Scout Leader as well as active in Warren County Home Extension, China Painting Club and the North Warren Fire Department Auxiliary. She had a love for her family, travel, gardening, sewing and painting.
Besides her parents and husband, Martha was proceeded in death by her daughter, Cheryl (Anderson) Hills, granddaughter, Kathryn Hills, and seven brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her sister, Marion (Dutchess) Blomquist, and three daughters: Robyn (Michael) Grady of Tallahassee, FL; Laureen (Mark) Rudd of Wendell, NC; The Reverend Marian Anderson of Lewisburg, PA; six grandchildren: Elizabeth (Josh) Moore, Robert Hills, Martha Grady, Sean Grady, Allison (Rudd) Anderson, Tyler Rudd, Brooke (Nicholas) Persing and Emily (Daniel) Fuller; and nine great grandchildren: Grant and Troy Anderson; Taylor, Nicolette, and Jaydon Persing and Gabriel, Maverick, Rocco and Atticus Fuller. Martha had recently lived at the Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village in Lewisburg, PA.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Grace United Methodist Church, 501 Penna. Ave. E,, Warren, PA, at 1:00 PM , with Rev. Bill Beaty, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in the Jackson Run Cemetery.
