Marshall F. Confer, 90, of Warren, PA, passed away on April 30, 2022, at the Kinzua Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Warren, PA. Marshall was born on November 10, 1931, in Bellefonte, PA, the son of the late Philip Confer and Madalyn Lyons Confer.
Marshall was a 1949 graduate of Bellefonte High School. At the start of the Korean War, he enlisted in the 200th F.A. Battalion and was on the last troop train to depart the Bellefonte area.
After returning to civilian life, he attended numerous trainings for employment with G.T.E. Sylvania at Mill Hall, Williamsport, Muncy, and Warren, PA. While working at Sylvania, he took classes to become a PA Licensed Realtor. Upon retirement from Sylvania, he worked for 5 years at the Warren County Rouse Home in the environmental services.
Marshall enjoyed working with people and coached his sons in baseball. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and observing the achievements of his sons and grandchildren.
Marshall was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Warren, PA, and the Russell Fire Department. Marshall was a former member of several social and professional clubs.
Marshall is survived by two sons Keith Confer and wife Judy of Warren, PA, and Gregg Confer and partner Kate Sekely of Hop Bottom, PA; five grandchildren Rachael Hopewell and husband Robbie of Knightdale, NC, Nathan Confer and wife Tracy of Seattle, WA, Reed Confer and wife Sierra of Jim Thorpe, PA, Fielding Confer of Boston, MA, Paige Confer of Warren, PA; three great grandchildren Ellie and Barrett Hopewell, and Zara Confer; sisters Marguerite Davidson and Harriet( Bonnie) Wolfe; sister in law Rachel McFarland; brother in law Rich McFarland.
In addition to his parents, Marshall is preceded in death by his wife Carolyn Heverly Confer, whom he married on December 28, 1951, at the Blanchard Church of Christ in Blanchard, PA. They missed their 70th wedding anniversary together by six weeks; sisters Martha Confer, Mary Shiner, Betty Watson, Lois Lucas, Joyce Hahn, and Bernice Graybill; brothers Ronald and Herbert Elwood.
Friends will be received at Calvary Baptist Church, 445 Conewango Ave. Warren, PA, on Friday May 6, 2022, from 11:00am to 1:00pm, at which time a funeral service will be held, with Reverend Joel Dingeldein, officiating. Burial will be at Centre County Memorial Park, State College, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Calvary Baptist Church, Russell Fire Department, 111 Perrigo Lane, Russell, PA, National Kidney Foundation, kidney.org, or Hospice of Warren County, 1 Main Ave. Warren, PA.
