Margaret “Pegi” M. Papalia, 65, of Russell, PA, and formerly of Clearfield, PA, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at UPMC Chautauqua, Lakewood, NY, with her son and daughter by her side after a courageous battle with cancer. Pegi was born on September 13, 1957, in Warren, the daughter of the late Wesley and Patricia (Welsh) Redfield.
Pegi was a 1975 graduate of Warren Area High School. She was an Administrative Assistant at CNB Bank in Clearfield, PA. She was a member of YABA, a volunteer for Toys for Tots, the Zonta Club, and was on the Board of Directors where she served as President for the Jefferson-Defrees Family Center.
Pegi enjoyed many things during her life including bowling, golfing, and playing cards. But she mostly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Because of this she will always be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Family and friends can take comfort knowing that she is now reunited with her mother and father whom she missed dearly.
Pegi is survived by her children, Philip Heubach of Russell, PA, and Jo Anne Smith of DuBois, PA; six grandchildren, Tyler and Aiden Heubach, and Katelyn, Addison, Teagan, and Grayson Smith; one great granddaughter, Haven Heubach; brothers, Jim (Linda) Redfield of Corry, PA, and John Redfield of Spring Creek, PA; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her older brother, Richard Redfield, nephews, David Redfield and Bobby Redfield, and her loving companion, her cat Lola.
Per Pegi’s wishes there will not be a funeral or viewing and a private ceremony will be held for the immediate family. A Celebration of Life for all who would like to attend and reminisce about Pegi will be held Saturday, August 12, at Werner Park in Russell, PA, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jefferson-Defrees Family Center, 207 2nd Ave., Warren, PA, Russell Volunteer Fire Department, 66 Perrigo Ln, Russell, PA, or to Pine Grove Lions Club, PA-45, Pine Grove Mills, PA.
