Luella J. Hammerbeck Chase, 100, passed away on November 21, 2021, at Kinzua Valley Health Care and Rehabilitation.
Luella was born on September 25, 1921, in Ebensburg, Pa., to the late Phillip and Isabel Krumbine Maines. She was a 1939 graduate of Warren Area High School. Luella was the church secretary at Grace United Methodist Church for 23 years, from which she retired. She was very active in the church, teaching Sunday School, and singing in the choir, and was also the President of the Women’s Society. Luella enjoyed gardening and reading. She will always be remembered as a wonderful homemaker. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, neighbor and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Luella is survived by her daughters, Judith (Randy) Johnson of Warren, Victoria Morrison of Warren; five grandchildren, Trish (Bill) Gentilman, David (Heather) Morrison, Karen (Nick) DeMarte, Bob (Jennifer) Morrison; five great-grandchildren, Dan and Matt Jeffrey, Tyson, Peyton, and Kailee Morrison; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Luella was preceded in death by her first husband, LeRoy Hammerbeck in 1991 and her second husband Robert Chase in 2005; three siblings, Phillip Maines, Ruth Pelch, Dorothy Hale; and a son-in-law, Raymond Morrison.
Due to COVID a private funeral service will be held at the Grace United Methodist Church, with Rev. Bill Beaty, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in the Oakland cemetery.
