Kelly Phillip Ferrie, 76, of Scandia, PA, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022, at UPMC Hamot in Erie, PA. Kelly was born on October 13,1946, in Warren, PA. He was the son of the late Pat W. Ferrie and Phyllis Spetz Ferrie.
Kelly grew up in Russell where his father served as fire chief and was owner of Ferrieās store. As a teen his family moved to the P.F. Ranch in Scandia PA.
Kelly graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1964. He served in the United States Army for two years in Germany where he specialized as a mechanic. He used those skills throughout his career and retired from Segel & Sons after many years.
Kelly was a mechanic as well as Supervisor for Elk Township. He was a charter member of the Scandia VFD established in 1966 and served as Chief for 26 years. He also served Warren County as a Fire School Instructor as well as Coordinator of the Warren County Hazmat Team. He attended the Scandia Covenant Church.
Kelly is survived by his children, Kimberly Ann Gertsch of Warren, PA, Amey Lynn Abbott and husband Kevin of Sugar Grove, PA, and Tom Ferrie (Michelle) of Warren, PA; grandchildren, Cody Gertsch and Tyler Ferrie; great grandchild, Paightyn Ann Gertsch; brothers, Mike Ferrie of Daytona Beach, FL, and Tim Ferrie and wife Vicki of Russell, PA.
In addition to his parents, Kelly was preceded in death on July 16, 2021, by his wife, Linda E. Nasman Ferrie, whom he married on January 5, 1970; and son-in-law, Edward Gertsch.
Friends will be received at Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc, 1003 Penna Ave. E. Warren, PA, on Sunday, November 13, 2022, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, November 14, 2022, at 11:00am, with Pastor Aaron Reinard, Scandia Covenant Church, officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Scandia VFD, 5950 Scandia Rd, Russell, PA, or to Scandia Covenant Church, 18 Peterson Rd, Russell, PA.
