Kay Elizabeth (Taft) Gray, 84, of Warren, PA, passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Kinzua Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Warren, PA. Kay was born on May 30, 1939, in Warren, the daughter of the late Walter and Vera (Hoffman) Taft.
Kay was a 1957 honors graduate of Warren High School. She was a 1977 graduate of the first Warren Vo-Tech Practical Nursing Program and worked as an LPN into her 70’s. She was employed at Warren General Hospital for 13 1/2 years, Centre Care Personal Care Home, Hospice of Warren County, Warren Manor, and several local doctor’s offices until her retirement. She then volunteered at the hospital up until COVID.
Kay was a 50 -year member of the Emanuel United Church of Christ where she was on several committees. She was also a member of the Warren Bocce League, Eastern Star, Warren Christian Women, Polka Boosters, American Legion #135, Eagles Club, and Moose Club #109. She was in charge of the class of 1957 luncheons. Kay enjoyed polka dancing, gardening, and feeding the birds. She enjoyed bus trips to the casino, horse races, and to Branson and NYC with the Sheffield Senior Center. She also enjoyed her Golden Girls dinner group, Wednesday afternoon lunch group, and Sunday card group.
Kay is survived by her children, Victoria (Rodney) Miles of Spring Creek, PA, Lee (Debra) Gray of Warren, PA, and Jaqueline (Scott) Saber of Warren, PA; ten grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; brother-in-law, George Littlefield of Frewsburg, NY; several nieces, a nephew and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Kay is preceded in death by her son, Michael C. Gray; and sister, Beverly Littlefield.
A private graveside service for Kay will be held at the convenience of the family.
A Celebration of Life service will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions in memory of Kay may be made to Hospice of Warren County, 1 Main Ave., Warren, PA; Emanuel United Church of Christ, 1710 Penna. Ave. E., Warren, PA; or to Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Rd., Jamestown, NY.
