John R. “Ronnie” Bross a lifelong resident of Sheffield and more recently a resident of Kinzua Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Warren, PA passed away on November 17, 2021 due to an extended illness.
Ronnie was born February 20, 1934 at home in Sheffield and was the son of the late Michael and Avanelle Albaugh Bross. He was a graduate of Sheffield High School and proudly served in the Air Force from 1952 through 1956 during the Korean War with honorable discharge.
He worked at United Refining Co. and later retired from the former National Forge Company. He was a previous member of the Sheffield Vets Club Honor Guard and the Sheffield Rod and Gun Club.
A man of few words, Ronnie enjoyed “taking his gun for a walk” during hunting season, could be seen around town riding his bike or at the daily “coffee klatch”.
He is survived by his son, John R. (Rusty) Bross and wife Kathy of Frederick, Maryland, and a daughter, Kathryn L. (Kate) Barsody and husband Leonard, Jr. of Youngsville, PA, a sister, Janyce Barr of Sheffield, his grandchildren: Kaylee (Sean) Bowser, Kelsey (Brandon) Schott, Monica (Chris) Clinch, Michelle Morelli, and Justin (Julia) Morelli. Additionally, he is survived by 17 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his brother, Michael T. Bross, a grandson, Jason Morelli and his brother in-law, Joseph Barr.
At his request, burial will be at the Oakland Cemetery, Veterans section where a private family service will take place at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Warren, PA.
The family suggests donation to the Alzheimer’s Association or organization of their choice.
