Jeanne C. (Sadler) Masterson

Jeanne C. (Sadler) Masterson, age 90, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2022 at the Rouse Home in Youngsville, PA. Born on March 5, 1932 to the late Ruth (Henry) and Bertram Sadler, she was a lifelong resident of Warren, PA, graduating from Warren High School in 1950.

Jeanne served as a PTA president, a Cub Scout Den mother, and a Girl Scout Leader. She taught Sunday School at Grace United Methodist Church, where she and her late husband also served as Youth Group leaders. She had a beautiful voice and was often a soloist in the Grace United Methodist Church’s choir. Later, she was an active member of the Warren Church of God, and most recently, a member of the Warren Alliance Church. Her faith in God and the Holy scriptures were reflected in the person she was to all who knew her, kind, loving, generous of heart.

Jeanne, known to many as “Goose” or “Mother Goose”, earned her nickname as the first in-home caregiver for Warren Social Services. At the age of 45, she learned to drive and went to work, finding a sales job with Brown’s Boots and later, Valone’s Shoe Store.

She had many talents, sewing, knitting/crocheting, decorating cakes and making silk flower bouquets and arrangements.  And no one would dispute her abilities in the kitchen. Her homemade noodles were legendary, and every Halloween, neighborhood kids clamored to get one of her homemade popcorn balls.

Jeanne was the beloved mother of three children, Molly A. Masterson (Charles Blackman), Warren, PA, Edward W. Masterson (Sharon), Sheffield, PA, and Shannon Kendrick (Kevin), Nashville, TN; she had ten grandchildren, Josh Tonnissen (Katie), Santa Clara, CA, Zach Tonnissen (Sandra), Orange, VT, Travis Masterson (Emily Goodard), Warren, PA, Samantha Genung (Matt), Lander, PA and Jim Kendrick (Bronwyn), Spring Creek, PA; and four great grandchildren.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Richard R. Masterson, brothers, Bertram (Bus) Sadler and James Sadler, sister Ruth Wolfe, and sisters-in-law, Doris Sadler and Lauretta Masterson.  She is survived by sister-in-law, Donna Sadler and brother-in-law, Lubcho Michevski.

Visitation with family will be held at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, 1003 Pennsylvania Ave. E, Warren, PA on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, from 10 am until 12 noon, followed by a funeral service with Rev. Mike Rutenbuer, officiating. Interment at the Westview Cemetery in Starbrick will be for immediate family only.
