James Leroy Neiswonger

James Leroy Neiswonger Jr., 95, of Pleasant Twp., PA, passed away at his residence on March 1, 2022, surrounded by his loving family

Jim was born on August 20, 1926, in Oak Ridge, PA, the son of the late James Leroy Neiswonger Sr. and Elsie Adams Neiswonger.

Jim worked in the coal mines in Armstrong County where he grew up in a large family. When he moved to Warren, he worked at Ekey Florist on the Southside of Warren. He later operated the greenhouse at Warren State Hospital for many years, from which he retired. 

Jim was a member of the Struthers Hose and a former member of the Eagles Club. Jim was a Master Gardener, both at work and at home. He enjoyed creating many fond memories hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren, and later in life enjoyed the casino. Jim will long be remembered as a loving husband of 74 years, a loving father, grandfather and great -grandfather, and many friends throughout his life.

Jim is survived by his wife Chloe A. Wilson Neiswonger, whom he married on July 12, 1947; four children, Judy Spencer and husband Jeffrey of Warren, PA, Kenneth Neiswonger and wife Linda of Warren, PA, Richard Neiswonger and wife Ronda of Corry, PA, and Brenda Walters and husband Jeffrey of Warren, PA; nine grandchildren, Bud Retterer, Scott Neiswonger, Kevin Neiswonger, Marc Neiswonger, Amanda McElhaney, Eric Neiswonger, Ashley Temple, Bradley Walters, Rachel Walters; eleven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by eight siblings, William, Kate, Toot, Walter, Jane, Bud, Russell, and Shirley.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
