Harold O. Gnage, 91, of Warren, PA, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2023, at the Rouse Suites in Youngsville, PA. Harry was born on August 16, 1931, in Kane, PA, the son of the late Otto and Agnes (Mesler) Gnage. He was a 1949 graduate of Warren High School. He was in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954 during the Korean War.
Harry was a machine operator at the National Forge for 41 years, from which he retired in 1991. He was a lifelong member of Holy Redeemer R.C. Church. He enjoyed playing football and baseball during his younger years. He was an excellent fisherman, landing the largest walleye in Pennsylvania waters in 1977. Harry enjoyed playing in many softball, horseshoe, and bowling leagues (which he continued doing into his 90 th year), cards, hiking, biking, walking and just being outdoors. He would say “get out and move everyday”. Harry loved putting puzzles together, and listening to the Pittsburgh Pirates play on the radio. Harry never cared for TV but enjoyed going to the movie theater. He liked going out to eat with family and friends, and was a regular at Peppermill for many years. He loved to go to his grandchildrens’ baseball and softball games, and after they grew up, just enjoyed being a spectator all over Warren at many fields. He got to enjoy a few of his great granddaughter’s soccer and softball games. He loved his family unconditionally. He leaves behind a very large extended family and would help anyone who asked. He also leaves behind many people who were happy to call him a friend.
Harry is survived by his children, son, Casey Gnage and daughter, Kellie Dunn; grandchildren, Jamie (Darren) Cummings, Addison (Danielle) Dunn; great grandchildren, Camdyn and Evelyn Cummings; brother, Alfred Gnage; longtime friends, Gary and Sherry Phillips; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Harry is preceded in death by sisters, Romaine Estes and Doris Brecht; brothers, Melvin, William and Louis Gnage; aunt, Dorothy Dankworth; sister and brother-in-law, Connie and William Brown; son-in-law, David Dunn; and ex-wife, Mary Lou Gnage.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Holy Redeemer R.C. Church, 11 Russell St., Warren, PA, at 10:00am, with Reverend Stephen Schreiber, officiating.
