Obituary

Donald J. First, 78, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 10, 2022 at his residence.

Don was born on October 3, 1943, in Buffalo, NY, the son of the late Charles and Marie (Weber) First. He then served in the U.S. Army.  From 1978 – 1998, Don was the owner of First Contractors in Warren. From 1998 Don began a second career driving tractor trailers cross-country for various companies, ending with Elite Transportation.  As a truck driver, Don enjoyed seeing the 48 contiguous States.


Don was a member of the American Legion, Warren Elks, Moose Club, Eagles Club, and the Exchange Club. He did volunteer work for the Conewango Twp Fire Police and the Warren General Hospital.  He was a former member of the CVCC and Conewango Club. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, and, most importantly, he loved his family.

Don is survived by his children: Evonne McKinley, and husband, Scott, of Swedesboro, NJ, Donald First of Warren, PA., Francine (Yost) Hogan of Erie, PA.; his grandsons, Liam and Holden McKinley, and Anthony Nelson; his siblings, Vincent and Anthony DiPasquale, William, Richard, and Gerald First; three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Elvira (Hernandez) First in 2015, whom he married on November 5, 1966; a daughter, Dawn First in 2014; two brothers Charles First and Robert First; and a sister Francine Kierzek.

Services will be private.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to Hospice of Warren County, One Main Street, Warren, PA 16365.
