Daniel Allison Howe passed away peacefully on March 21, 2022 at the age of 80 years old. Raised in Millcreek, PA, Daniel graduated from McDowell High School as a member of the class of 1959. He then served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Damato as an ET-5 electronic engineer. Afterwards, he made Warren, PA his home. He was employed as an elevator/escalator constructor and master mechanic for several companies including Otis, Seeler and Schindler. He took great pride in his work, enjoyed traveling to different locations and meeting new coworkers and friends.
Daniel was a member of numerous clubs and organizations: Founding member of the Upper Allegheny Muzzleloaders, Tall Cedars, Northern Masonic Scottish Rite, Coudersport Consistory, the Moose Lodge, the American Legion, and the Multiple Sclerosis support group. He donated to many charities dear to his heart like the American Cancer Association, the NRA, and Wounded Warrior.
His hobbies and interests included flying with his father and uncles, photography, hunting and fishing. He was a gun collector and enjoyed refurbishing and making rifles and muzzleloaders. He looked forward to weekly breakfasts with friends at the Frewsburg Dinner Bell Restaurant and Wendy’s Diner in Russell, PA. He was a proud “adopted-grandfather” to Christina, Stephen and Amani. Daniel will always be remembered for having a story to share, and his love for ice cream and chocolate chip cookies.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Elizabeth (Myers) Howe, and his sister, Beverly (Howe) Shaffer. He is survived by his children, Charles Howe and wife Anna, Michele (Howe) Mascia, and Allison Howe; grandchildren Nicholas Howe, Erin Howe, Miranda Mascia and Amber Mascia; several nieces and nephews, including his niece Jennifer Shaffer of Ft Myers, FL.; and, of course, by his pup, Lacy “Gracy”.
Friends will be received at the Peterson – Blick Funeral Home Inc., 1003 Penna. Ave. East, Warren, PA 16365 on Saturday, April 2, 2022 from 10 am until 12 noon, at which time a funeral service will be held.
