Betty Louise Anderson, 92, of Warren, PA went home to be with her Lord after a long and courageous battle with COPD and emphysema on Friday, August 23, 2013. Betty was born January 29, 1921 in Warren, PA, the daughter of the late James Albert and Cora Ann Gheres Rhoades.
Betty had been employed at various locations in Warren, working at Solar Electric, Warren State Hospital and the New Process Company. She was a former member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church. Betty also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary, Eagles Club. She will be most remembered for living life to the fullest. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and playing bingo, dancing and traveling. Betty was happiest when she was helping others or making them laugh.
She is survived by three daughters, Anita Louise Wilson of Goose Creek, SC, Debra McGreehan of Warren, PA and Susan Faye Joseph, and husband, Peter, of Las Vegas, NV; one son, LeRoy Johnson, Jr. of St. Stephens, SC; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, LeRoy Johnson; second husband, Kenneth Anderson; four brothers, George Albert Rhoades, Robert Rhoades, and twins, Donald and Dewey Rhoades; three sisters, Alberta Cora Rhoades Dickerson, Belle Augusta Baxter and Dorothy Pauline Kifer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, Warren Unit, 2 Crescent Park West, Warren, PA 16365.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Betty's family would like to thank the staff of Helpmates for the wonderful care and friendship that they expressed to Betty throughout the years.
