Allen W. Nelson Jr.

Allen W. Nelson Jr., 80, of Russell, PA, passed away on November 3, 2022, at Kinzua Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Allen was born on August 1, 1942, in Warren, the son of the late Allen W. Nelson Sr. and Louise Munger Nelson. Allen graduated in 1961 from Youngsville High School and served for four years in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. He worked as a Supply Manager for Whirley Industries from which he retired. He also the Millbrook Breadman for the surrounding area. Allen was a member of the Saron Lutheran Church in Youngsville, PA. He was also a member of the American Legion for Sugar Grove and Youngsville. He enjoyed woodworking, crafts, NASCAR, and especially being with his family. Allen is survived by his daughter, Lynn C. Phinney; grandchildren, Kyle Fortman of Russell, PA, and Cassidy and husband Adam Miller of Warren, PA; great grandchild, Russell Miller; sisters, Bonnie L. Tanski of Youngsville, PA, and Charlene B. Davidson and husband Les of Youngsville, PA; a close family friend, Frank Sturdevant of Russell, PA; several nieces and nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Allen is preceded in death on July 28, 2017, by his wife, Rowena Yeskey Nelson, whom he married on March 6, 1965. A memorial service will be held on December 3, 2022, at the Saron Lutheran Church in Youngsville, PA at 12:00 noon, with family receiving friends at 11:00am for one hour prior to the service.
