Adele Tranter Obituary

A gracious lady who embraced the beauty of life, Adele Erickson Tranter was born on August 27, 1928, to Hazel Sires and Luther Erickson, and died at age 94 on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at the home of her daughter and son in Lewisberry, PA. A lifelong community member, Adele graduated from Warren Area High School in 1946. In 1948, while working at WNAE, Adele met Charles Tranter and the two conducted an on-air call-in radio program called “Please Play”. They were married in August of 1949. Adele quickly became involved in volunteer work throughout the Warren area. She was a member of the Warren Garden Club, Woman’s Club, Philomel Club, the Blue Stocking Club, Warren Shakespeare Club, Warren General Hospital Auxiliary, and the Crary Art Gallery, as well as serving on various committees in the area. Adele loved Warren and enjoyed serving with her time wherever she could. The earliest photos of Adele as a child show her with her arms full of flowers. And, so began a lifelong passion for all things beautiful - especially flowers of all descriptions. In 1980, Adele had a dream: Why not a beautiful gift shop downtown with lovely flowers, of course. And “Ring Around a Rosy” was born. In 1985, the Erie-Chautauqua magazine honored Adele as an “Entrepreneur of the Year”. Adele’s love of flowers extended far beyond her “Rosy” shop. As a volunteer, she created spectacular arrangements for the altar at First United Methodist Church each Sunday for 34 years. Adele will be remembered for her passion of all things beautiful and her endeavor to share it with others. Adele is survived by four children: Elisa (Gary), Laurie, Mark (Paula), and Jeffrey (Sherri); grandchildren, Emily, Olivia, Alexander, Jordan, Paden, Jessica, and Charlie, as well as great grandchildren, Andre, Avery, Athan, and Dawson. Also, her sister-in-law Connie Warner (Laurean) and many nieces and nephews. Adele was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Charles Richardson Tranter, her father, Luther Albert Erickson, her mother, Hazel Irene Sires, and sisters Joanne and Clare. Friends will be received at First United Methodist Church of Warren, 200 Market St., on Monday, December 5 from 10:00am to 11:00am, at which time a funeral service will be held with Reverend Dr. Mark E. Hecht, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Foundation of Warren County, 310 Second Avenue, Warren, PA 16365.
