Obituary

William "Bobo" or "Chili" Colin Andrae Rode, 62, of Warren, died Sunday, August 27, 2017, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.  Bill was born May 4, 1955, in Brooklyn, NY. He was the son of the late William and Ann Rhea (Pheaton) Rode.

Bill grew up in Staten Island and had worked at Reader's Digest as a Supervisor in the mailroom; he had also worked for Staten Island Rapid Transit Rail Service, and was a driver for Staten Island Community Car Service.  Upon moving to Warren, Bill discovered a love for nature and hiking.  He saw it as his duty to care for God's creatures and always ensured the birds, squirrels and chipmunks were well fed by his home.

Shortly after moving to Warren, Bill became a member of the First Church of God, where he was part of the Men's Group on Monday, and hugely involved with Vacation Bible School.  Every summer, Bill looked forward to assisting with VBS and working with the kids; he was so grateful this year to have helped with the games. He had worked for Thorne's Bi-Lo for a brief time, Sheffield Container in the security department, and then the North Warren Kwik Fill until retiring due to illness.  Bill loved God with all of his heart.  His friends will always remember his great smile and huge hugs.

He is survived by his wife, Nanette (Roberts) Rode, whom he married October 20, 2007, in Grand Valley, PA; and two sisters, Laurie Neilson, and husband, Robert, of Blakeslee, PA, and Cathe Rode, of Scotts Run, PA; and one nephew.

A memorial service will be held at the First Church of God, 1111 Madison Ave., Warren, PA, at 11 a.m., on, Saturday, October 14, with Rev. Bill Hargenrader, pastor, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial contribution should consider the First Church of God, or Paws Along the River, 212 Elm Street, Warren, PA 16365.
