William C. Anderson, 72, of McPherson Street, Warren, and formerly of Daughterty Road, North Warren, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2015, at the John & Orpha Blair Hospice House. Bill was born July 10, 1942 in Corry, PA. He was the son of the late Arden and Mary (Sutherland) Anderson.
Bill was a 1961 graduate of Warren High School, and had served in the US Army from 1964 to 1966. He then attended the former Alliance College in Cambridge Springs. He was employed as a tool and die maker for Sylvania, GTE and Verizon, retiring a as a supervisor at age 49. During his time at GTE, Bill had the opportunity to work in Algeria for two years at a start up plant, the largest of its kind at the time.
A hard worker, he had obtained his commercial pilot's license before retiring and also enjoyed woodworking. He and his wife, Mary, loved to travel and had visited thirteen countries and most of the United States. He also enjoyed NASCAR, his Harley, and four wheeling.
Bill was very social and was involved in many clubs and organizations including the Moose, American Legion, and the Eagles Club.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary (Musante) Anderson, whom he married on September 11, 1971; and two children, Michael Anderson and Rose Anderson, both of Warren, his aunt, Grace Mortimer, of Franklin, PA; two nieces, Melanie Crawford and Tracy Norton, both of Virginia, and one great-niece.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Peg Norton, and an infant sister.
Friends will be received at the Peterson - Blick Funeral Home, Inc, 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, PA Wednesday, March 4, from 3 to 5 p.m., at which time, a funeral service will be held there with Rev. Marcus Briggs, chaplain, Warren General Hospital and Rouse Home, officiating. Burial will be in Warren County Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Warren County, 1 Main Avenue, Warren, PA 16365 or Warren Library Association, 205 Market St., Warren, PA 16365.
