Walter Sherman Cole, 77, of Warren, PA, died suddenly on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at his home. Walter was born April 5, 1937, in Clarendon, PA. He is the son of the late Lewis D. and Virginia (Ishman) Cole.
Walter was employed by Penelec, beginning his career at the power plant, and later working as a meter reader, from which he retired after 27 years. Currently, he was working for Midtown Motors as a driver. He was a faithful soldier of the Salvation Army. Walter was very active in the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, Chapter PAQ, which he was co-founder and had received many acknowledgements and honors. He loved riding his Gold Wing with his wife in the side car; they had traveled the entire lower 48 states. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Patricia (Mathers) Cole; four daughters, Stephanie Kittell, and husband, Daryl, of Warren, PA, Susan Sweet, and husband, Lowell, of Barnes, PA, Beth Boehm, and husband, Allen, of Ruston, LA, and Mary Barone, and husband, Kevin, of Dewitt, VA; two sons, Michael Cole, and wife, Donna, of Marana, AZ, and Frank Camp, of Buffalo, NY; two sisters, Barbara Lietchenberger, and husband, Carl, of Barnes, PA, and Violet Westerdahl, of Falconer, NY. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Richard Mathers, and brother, Donald Cole.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, at the Salvation Army, 311 Beech St., Warren, PA, with Majors Diane & Ralph Cambpell, and Major Tom Applin, co-officiating. Burial will be in Weiler Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Salvation Army Of Warren, 300 Beech Street, Warren, PA 16365.
