Virginia H Simonsen, age 85, of Topsham , ME ,  a former resident of Warren , died Sunday, August 25, 2013 at Cadigan Lodge, The Highlands, a Retirement & Assisted Living Facility in Topsham , ME following a lengthy battle with COPD.

Virginia was born June 29, 1928 in Akeley , PA., daughter of the late Lester J. and Hazel (Marker) Hale.  She was a 1946 graduate of Youngsville High School, a member of the CVCC for 40 years and was a long time member of the First Lutheran church. Her favorite hobbies were golf, gardening and dog walking.

She is survived by one sister: Vivian Munson of Florida; one brother, William J. Hale of PA; one daughter: Leslie Medina; one son, Gregg Garrison; multiple step children; Robert M. Garrison,  Ann M. Garrison, Rob Simonsen,  Scott Simonsen, Corey Simonsen; nieces; Virginia Reynolds, Pamela Gareri, Lyn Gatts; and nephew, Howard Waite.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death in 2008 by her husband, William R. Simonsen; and step daughter, Jill Simonsen in 2011.

The family wishes to acknowledge and to express gratitude for the dedicated, compassionate and able staff at both Chans Hospice and the Cadigan Lodge.
