Thomas C. Swanson, 73, formerly of Lincoln Ave., passed away following a lengthy illness, on February 17, 2020, at the Select Specialty Hospital, in Erie, PA. Thomas was born on March 6, 1946, in Warren, PA, son of the late Robert C. and Nettie (Belle) Swanson. Upon graduating from Eisenhower High School, Thomas joined the U.S. Marine Corps. He served in Vietnam and was wounded twice. He received two Purple Hearts along with various other medals including the Marine Rifle and Pistol Expert Badges. Prior to and upon returning from Vietnam, he worked for Crescent Tool. Later, he worked as a Police officer for the Youngsville Police Department. He ended his career as a Heavy Carpenter with Local 2274 Carpenter Union, where he remained until work injury forced his retirement. While in good health, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed playing guitar and sang in a country band for many years. Thomas is survived by his son, Timothy R. Swanson (Christina); 3 grandsons, Christopher Swanson, Timothy Swanson and Tristen Engle; 3 stepbrothers, Dean (Laurie) Swanson, of Erie, Gary (Karen) Swanson, Craig (Debbie) Swanson, of Russell, and Neil Swanson, of Jamestown, NY; a son-in-law, Anthony Engle; and his former wives, Rebecca Donato and Donna Swanson. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his stepmother, Beverly Swanson; and his daughter, Heather Engle. Friends will be received from 4-6 PM, on Thursday, February 20, 2020 and for one hour prior to a funeral service being held at 11 AM, on Friday, February 21, 2020, at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc., 1003 Penna. Ave. E. Warren, PA 16365, with Retired Chaplain, Marcus Briggs, officiating. The family has requested memorial donations be made to Hospice of Warren County, 1 Main Ave. Warren, PA 16365.
