Thomas Leon Best Sr., 83, of Warren, PA, passed away following a lengthy illness on June 20, 2024, with his loving family by his side. Tom was born at home on March 3, 1941, in Clarion, PA, the son of the late Thomas E. and Beulah Beers Best. His early education began in a one room schoolhouse. He was a 1959 graduate of Clarion Area High School, followed thereafter by graduating from the Orra-Jean Barber School in Erie, PA. Tom was a dedicated employee of Osram-Sylvania for 33 years, from which he retired in 1999. Tom was a member of the Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church in Warren, PA. He was a 50-year member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 109, and a longtime member of the Clarion County Historical Society. Tom cherished the memories made while spending time with his family at his camp on Six Mile Road in Tiona, PA. As a lifelong country music fan, Tom enjoyed visiting Nashville, TN, where he attended the Fan Fair Country Music Festival and the Grand Ole Opry. His favorite and most treasured trip, however, was to Italy. History and genealogy were two of Tom's biggest interests, which he enjoyed teaching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren about. Tom was also an avid autograph collector, having collected over one thousand autographs throughout his life. Tom's most cherished collection, though, were the memories he collected while spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his grandson, Jacob "Jake" Vincent Porter, as well as many aunts and uncles. Tom is survived by his wife, Sally Stiglitz Best, whom he married on August 17, 1963; two children, Dawn Hagberg and her husband Jason of Warren, PA, Thomas L. Best and his wife Susan of Warren, PA; five grandchildren, Erin Williams and her husband Brady of Warren, PA, Sarah Tronco and her husband Antonio of Oaklyn, NJ, Brett Salsgiver and his wife Emily of Union City, PA, Emily Hagberg and her partner Ty Thompson of Warren, PA, and Ethan Best of Warren, PA; seven great-grandchildren, Owen, Olivia, Carter, Juliet, Waylon, Eleanor, and Ciara. In accordance with Tom's wishes, all services will be private, including his burial at Saint Joseph's Cemetery.
