Theodore “Ted” Sill Holt, 85, of Russell, PA, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Kinzua Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center.
Ted was born September 7, 1940, in Cleveland, OH, son of the late Donald M. and Alta (Cole) Holt.
Ted was a lifelong resident of Akeley, PA. He graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1958 and went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Army from 1965-1967, during the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of Specialist E5.
Following his military service, Ted dedicated 33 years to Pine Grove Township, where he worked as Road Foreman until his retirement in 2002. He also contributed to the construction of the Cable Hollow Golf Course, a project he remained proud of throughout his life.
Ted found great joy in the outdoors and in the company of those he loved. He especially cherished fishing trips to Black Lake, NY, with his son, Steve, and his many fishing buddies. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR, often sharing race days with his good friend, Dave McJunkin. He treasured time with his granddaughter, Katelyn Greene, and loved doing puzzles with his daughter, Renae.
Ted is survived by his wife, Shirley Holt, whom he married on October 12, 1963; son, Steve (Nicole) Holt; daughter, Renae (Doug) Greene; granddaughter, Katelyn Greene; sisters-in-law, Rita Holt and Laura Holt; along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by his sister, Rita (Harlan) Hill; brothers, Harry Holt, Ray Holt, and Dale Holt; brother-in-law, Harlan Hill; sister-in-law, Shirley (Harry) Holt; and niece, Melissa Ells.
Friends will be received at Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc., 1003 Penna. Ave. East, Warren, on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 11:00am to 1:00pm, at which time a service will be held there with military honors provided by Youngsville Honor Guard.
A further Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations in Ted’s name may be made to Russell Volunteer Fire Department, 111 Perrigo Ln., Russell, PA.
