Theodore L. "Ted" Russell, 83, of Warren, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 13, 2018, at UPMC Hamot Medical Center of Erie. He was born at home on August 28, 1934, in Russell, PA to the late Theodore L. Russell and Blanche O. (White) Russell Johnson.
Ted served in the U.S. Army as a Radio Operator during the Korean War. Upon returning to the U.S., he worked for GTE Sylvania as a Shipping Clerk for 40 years, retiring in 1992. Ted was a faithful member of the First Lutheran Church in Warren where he rarely missed a Sunday service. In his younger years, Ted enjoyed hunting, fishing, cross-country skiing, riding his motorcycle, roller skating (where he met his wife, Charlette), water skiing and spending time on his boat with his family. He enjoyed traveling with his wife as they explored Hawaii, Nevada, New York City, and many other destinations. Ted enjoyed dining out with his wife; they were familiar faces at several local restaurants. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Ted is survived by his wife, Charlette S. (Stone) Russell, whom he married on November 26, 1960; his children, Deborah Seastrum of Warren and Theodore Russell (Vicki Wimer, and her children, Jared and Desi) of Russell, his grandchildren, Danielle Seastrum, Tamara Seastrum, and Teddy Russell, his step-grandchildren, Kenneth (Megan) Seastrum, Tracy (Mickey) Brown, and Bobbie Jo (Jamie Paterniti) Seastrum, six step-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his sisters Dorothy Ohmer, and Shirley Ramon, of Warren, and his brother David (Marsha) Johnson, of Russell. In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by his sister Mary Carol Nelson, and his son-in-law, Thomas Seastrum.
A memorial service will be held at the First Lutheran Church, 109 W. Third Ave., Warren, PA 16365, on Saturday, May 26th, with The Rev. Jeffrey Ewing, pastor, officiating. Visitation will be at 10 a.m., service at 11 a.m. and a luncheon to follow.
