Obituary

Thad J. Wonderling, 82, of Locust Street, Warren, died on Saturday, January 23, 2016, at his residence. He was born August 15, 1933 in Warren, the son of the late Thad and Faye (Fagley) Wonderling. Thad left Warren High School to join the US Army. He served as a Tank Commander during the Korean War. Upon his return to Warren, he worked at Struthers Wells Company as an automatic welder for forty years, from which he retired. Thad was a former Trustee at the Eagles Club, and was currently the oldest member of the Struthers Hose Co. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and small engine repair. He was an avid Pittsburgh fan, and especially enjoyed baseball. He enjoyed little league and watching the kids play. He is survived by his wife: Esther Ristau Riest Wonderling, whom he married on September 27, 1986; three daughters, Vicky Lynn Kerney of Warren, PA, Connie McNeal (Steve) of Warren, PA, Kimberly Tomassoni and fiance' Herb Anderson of Warren, PA and one son: Ronald Wonderling, of Warren, PA; one sister: Doris Pesko (Francis) of Warren, PA; step daughters, Paula Cornelius and companion Terry Barker, of FL, Carol Collins (Steve) of Warren, PA; step sons, Delmar Ristau (Wendy) of Warren, PA;, Randy Riest of Warren, PA, and Scott Cornelius (Karen) of Warren, PA; five grandchildren, Jeremy Maka, Allison Grinnel, Cheyanne Wills, and Kalli and Gracie Tomassoni; and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Helen Wonderling, Pauline Pratt, Virginia Davis, and Mabel Davis; two brothers, Ron Wonderling and Kenneth Fagley, and a step son, Dr. Richard Riest. Friends will be received on Tuesday, January 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Peterson - Blick Funeral Home, Inc, 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, PA. an for one hour prior to the funeral service to be held there at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 27, with Rev. Marcus Briggs, officiating. Members of the Sheffield and Clarendon VFW Honor Guard will provide Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to Hospice of Warren County, 1 Main Avenue, Warren, PA 16365.
