Steven David Yurick, 59, of Warren, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family and friends on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Steven was born June 28, 1955, in Warren, PA, the son of the late Andrew L. and the late Alice Alexander Yurick.  He was a 1973 graduate of Warren High School and most recently employed at Targeted Pet Treats, Warren, retiring due to illness.

Steve was a trapshooting enthusiast and a longtime member of the Pine Grove Sportsman Club, where he served as Club Secretary for many years. Steve was also an outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an exceptionally knowledgeable man, an avid reader and loved gardening and flowers.

He is survived by his wife, Colleen (Nelson) Yurick, whom he married on August 6, 1983; and two daughters, Sara Jones of Chelan, WA and Katie Whitaker, and husband, Jason, of Scranton, PA; one sister, Marya Yurick of Warren, PA; and three brothers, Andrew H. Yurick, and wife, Carolyn, of Warren, PA, John Yurick, and wife, Barbara, of Beckley, WV and Thomas Yurick, of Youngsville, PA; his mother and father in law, Betty Lou and Larry Slater; 10 grandchildren; his best friend, Lynn Schnarrs, and many special friends from his wife's employer at BEI. Steve also leaves behind his dog, "Lucy".

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father in law, Edward F. Nelson, Jr.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, at the Salvation Army, 311 Beech St., Warren, PA, with Major Ralph Campbell and Major Diane Campbell, officiating.
