Steven M. Nelson, 49, of Myersdale, PA, and formerly of Warren and Pittsfield, died on Wednesday, September 9, 2015, following a lengthy illness. Steven was born February 28, 1966, in Warren, PA. He was the son of the late Nels and Hope (Elder) Nelson. Steven was a graduate of the Warren Area High School, attending Vo Tech for two years. He was employed at Berenfield Drum, retiring due to illness. Steven was also a volunteer firefighter for Garland VFD and Clarendon VFD. He loved his family, his dog Max, and especially his daughters. He is survived by his wife, Cammie (Johnson) Nelson, whom he married on July 8, 1989, at the Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church; three daughters, Rachel M. Battko, and husband Victor, of Youngsville, PA, Stephanie M. Nelson, and her fiancé, Tim Holt, of Western Port, MD and Kelly T. Nelson, and her fiancé, Patrick Dudding, of Cadiz, KY; six grandchildren, Mia Battko, Jacob Battko, Brooke Battko, Colter Battko, Devon Holt, and one expected granddaughter, Haley Holt. He is also survived by his cousins with whom he was raised, Elke Elder and Jennie Orn; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church, 210 Jamestown Street, Sugar Grove, PA, on Monday, September 14, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, at which time, a funeral service will be held there, with Rev. Billy Hughes, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. The Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc. has been entrusted with arrangements.
