Steven (Steve) Elmquist 79, of Sugar Grove, PA, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Steve was born on May 13, 1947, in Warren, PA, the son of the late Elmer and Helen (Dyson) Elmquist. He was a 1965 graduate of Warren Area High School. He was drafted in the U.S. Army in 1967, Charlie Company, 9th Infinitary. He was injured in Vietnam and received the Purple Heart. He Graduated from Paul Smith College in 1970. Steve was employed by the PA Game Commission as a Forester for over 30 years.

Steve enjoyed hunting and taking cruises. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #313, Sugar Gove Amvets post #50, and the Youngsville American Legion Post 658. Steve was a strong supporter of the Tunnels to Towers Foundation.

Steve is survived by his wife JoAnn (Pollock) Elmquist, whom he married on September 23, 1966; children, Scott Elmquist and wife Diana of Sugar Grove, and Cynthia Strandburg and husband Charles of Warren; sister Karen Valentine of Albion; four grandchildren, Lacey McCaslin, Alyssa Strandburg, Chase (Emily) Elmquist, and Katie Elmquist; one great grandson, Blake; and one great granddaughter on the way; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by sister, Diane Donovan.

Services for Steve will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
