Steven James Brown, 67, of 27 Warren Blvd., Warren, PA, died Tuesday, July 7, 2015. Steve was born December 24, 1947, in Warren, PA. He was the son of the late Howard J. and Gloria L. (Boston) Brown.
He attended Warren High School, and was a self-employed contractor. Steve was the owner of S. J. Brown & Sons for 30 years, retiring the business in 2001 due to illness. He then became a realtor for Howard Hanna Daley Real Estate.
Steve lived a very active life. During the 1960's to 70's, he served as a member and assistant fire chief of Starbrick Volunteer Fire Department. For many years, Steve was an assistant Scout Master Troop 24 Starbrick while his sons were active with the Scouts.
He was a member and past Master of Stillwater Lodge #547, Youngsville, PA; a member of Farrah Grotto, Warren, with 2 terms as Monarch, where he also served as Dr. of Smiles for 28 years; past president of Warren County Shrine Club; and was the past president of Kinzua Valley CB Rangers.
Additionally, Steve was also past president and statistician of the Industrial Golf League at Jackson Valley Golf Course for 18 years; and president of the Friday Sr. Golf League at Cable Hollow Golf Course for the past 5 years. In 1969, Steve became a member of the Moose Lodge 109 Warren, where he served as an officer for several years.
Since 1994, Steve has served as the supervisor of Westview Cemetery. He also served as past president of the Warren County Board of Realtors. Steve was an avid NASCAR and golf fan.
He is survived by his wife, Mae (Peterson) Brown, whom he married May 7, 1967, in the Emmanuel Baptist Church, Starbrick; two sons, Steven J. Brown, Jr., and wife, Theresa (Teri), and their children, Derek and Kaitlyn, and Jeffrey A. Brown, and wife, Lisa, and their children, Elise and Sydney. He is also survived by one brother, Dennis Brown, and wife, Judy; three cousins; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Joann Brown.
Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc., 1003 Penn. Ave. E., Warren, on Thursday, July 9, from 5 to 8 p.m., with a Masonic service being conducted at 4:45 p.m. The funeral will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, 501 Penn. Ave., E., Warren, on Friday, July 10, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Alan Jones, pastor, Cable Hollow Community Church, officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery, Starbrick.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Moose Heart Association (Moose Charities), 155 South International Drive, Moose Heart, IL 60539 or any other children's charities.
