Steven E. Bateman, 55, of Warren, PA, passed away of natural causes on Friday, July 7, 2023, at his residence. Steve was born on December 10, 1967, in Dunkirk, NY, the son of Robert (Bonnie) Bateman, who survives, and the late Phyllis Bateman. Steve graduated from Oswayo High School and earned a bachelor's degree of Fine Arts from Edinboro University after serving in the United States Navy. He spent the last of his years as a self-employed artist. Steve loved all forms of art, including a strong passion for sculpting various types of stone, painting, and writing. When sculpting, he would listen to music, his favorite artist being Pink Floyd. When he wasn't sculpting, he would never miss his favorite teams play, including the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, and Cleveland Guardians, formally Cleveland Indians. In addition to his father, Steve is survived by his children, Jesse Bateman of Waterford, PA, and Kasey Bateman of Russell, PA; brother, Scott Bateman of Erie, PA; sister, Virginia Brown of North Carolina; brother, Marty Bateman of Spring Lake, NC; ex-wife, Virginia Barnes of Erie, PA; sister-in-law, Suzanna Hammell; best friend, Patrick Parsons.
