Obituary


Stanford L. Anderson, 84, of 319 East Fifth Street, Warren, Pa., passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Warren General Hospital.

Stanford was born April 18, 1928, in Ridgway, Pa. to the late Carl G. Anderson and Sarah B. Raybuck Anderson.  He attended Grade School, Jr. High School and Senior High School.  He was a confirmed member of the Bethelem Lutheran Church and one of the First Acolyte's of the Church.  He served on the Church Board for several years.  He served in the US Navy Seabee's in the Second World War.  He was stationed on Guam Island until his honorable discharge in 1946.  He then served in the US Navy Reserves until February 19, 1952.  He was employed by Russell Snow Plow, Co. in Ridgway, then from 1948 to 1958 at Elliot Co. as a Maintenance Electrician.  He then went to work for Ridgway Color and Chemical Co. for seven years. He also served as President of Ridgway Volunteer Fire Department from 1959 to 1965. On January 3, 1966, he moved to Warren and went to work for National Forge as an Electrician for 25 years, retiring in June 1990.  He worked at Bett's Industry in Starbrick for seven years.

He was an active volunteer for the National Forge Credit Union for 35 years as a Director, Vice President, Chairman and President of the Board of Directors from 1990 to 2005.  He was the President of the Allegheny Chapter of Credit Unions from 1995 to 2001.  On April 6, 2001, he was honored by the Pa. Credit Union League at the Hilton Hotel in Pittsburgh, PA., when he received the Joseph A. Moore Memorial Award for the Credit Union Volunteer Lifetime Achievement.  He believed in the Credit Union Motto, "People helping people."  He enjoyed his hunting camp, "Stan's Place" in Scandia for 21 years, hunting deer with his grandsons' and son-in-laws'.

He is survived by his wife, Emilie B. Anderson, whom he married on April 29, 1989; three daughters, Sandra Moore, and her husband, Rev. Stephen of Scottsdale, Pa., Diane McKenzie, and her husband, William of Clarendon, Pa., and Deborah Dennett, and her husband, Robert of Asheville, NC; two step-children, Keith Weilacher, and his wife, Julie of Columbia, SC, and Deborah Williamson, and her husband, Mark of St. Marys, Pa; two sisters, Carol Distler and Gladys Haines, and her husband, William, both of Ridgway, Pa.; three grandsons; two granddaughters; eleven great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter, Kayleeraine McKenzie; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Becky B. Charlesen Anderson in 1988; his step mother, Germaine Elizabeth Nagley Anderson; and his sister, Valjean Marie Anderson.

Friends will be received at the Peterson - Blick Funeral Home, Inc., 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, on Wednesday, December 12, 2012, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., and for one hour prior to a funeral service to be held at the Grace United Methodist Church, 501 Penna. Ave. E., Warren, on Thursday, December 13, at 1 p.m., with Rev. Kevin Haley, pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow at Warren County Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, or charity of choice.
