Ruth E. Nuhfer, age 92, of Warren, passed away Saturday, August 18, 2018. Ruth was born September 29, 1925 in Emlenton, PA, to the late Lawrence and Blanche Barnes Grieff. Ruth graduated from Emlenton High School. She earned her nursing degree through the Cadet Nursing Program during WWII at Mercy School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, PA. After graduation she worked at the Oil City Hospital for several years. Upon relocation to Warren, she was employed by the Warren State Hospital for 26 years until retiring in 1985. She is survived by her husband, Patrick Thomas Nuhfer whom she married in St. Stephen's Church on January 31, 1953; along with her 5 children, Thomas (Dolly) Nuhfer, Sharon Nuhfer, William Nuhfer, Dan Nuhfer, all of Warren, PA, and Chris (Criag) McKillip, of Irvine, PA; his sister, Louise (Jim) Colwell, of Knox, PA; 9 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her brothers; Joseph Grieff, Robert Grieff, Fred Grieff, and Lawrence Grieff; and her sisters, Helen Grieff, Elizabeth Edwards and Mary Russell. Ruth was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother. She was a kind, gentle person that will be dearly missed by all who know her. Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc. 1003 Penna. Ave. E. Warren, PA 16365 on Wednesday August 22, 2018 from 6 to 8 P.M. A funeral service will be held at Peterson-Blick Funeral Home at 11 A.M. on Thursday August 23, 2018 with Father Jim Gutting, officiating.
