Ruth Bielenberg Huber, 85, of 53 Cardinal Lane, Russell, PA, and formerly of 371 Bent Twig Road, Warren, PA died at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Warren Manor.
Mrs. Huber was born May 17, 1927, in Oil City, PA, the daughter of the late Reverend Herman and Emma Pardieck Bielenberg of Oil City and Warren. Mrs. Huber was a graduate of Oil City High School in 1945 and Slippery Rock University in 1949 after which she came to Warren to teach Girl's Physical Education at the old Warren High School at the corner of Market Street and Second Avenue. She was the first Girl's Physical Education instructor at the current Warren Area High School as well as an English teacher at Beaty Junior High School. She was active for years at First Lutheran Church in Warren and was President of the Woman's Club of Warren during 1984-85. She was an avid bridge player. Her greatest joy in life, however, was her family. She also traveled extensively including trips to Europe, China, Egypt and the Holy Land. She enjoyed wintering in Florida and vacationing with her family at the Outer Banks in North Carolina. She and her husband spent winters recently at St. James Plantation in Southport, North Carolina.
Surviving is her husband of sixty years, Gerald A. (Jerry) Huber, whom she married at Christ Lutheran Church in Oil City, Pennsylvania where her father performed the ceremony on June 14, 1952. She is also survived by two sons, Timothy and his wife Cheryl of Warren, and Steven and his wife Michele of Millersville, Maryland, and four grandchildren, Jeffrey and his fiancée Caroline Guhde of Washington, DC, Gary of Wayne, Pennsylvania, and Emily and Jon at home in Millersville, Maryland. Also surviving are her sister, Helen Puterbaugh of Greensboro, North Carolina and her brother, Reverend Albert Bielenberg and his wife Phyllis of Cocoa, Florida and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a beloved son, Thomas C. Huber, in 2001.
Friends will be received at the Peterson - Blick Funeral Home, Inc., 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, on Sunday, March 24, from, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., and at the First Lutheran Church, 109 W. Third Ave., Warren, for one hour prior to a funeral service to be held on Monday, March 25 at 11:00 a.m., with The Rev. Jeff Ewing, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Warren, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Thomas C. Huber Memorial Fund at the Community Foundation of Warren County, P.O. Box 691, Warren, PA 16365 or a charity of one's choice.
