Ruth Adele Dickey, 95, of Warren, died Friday, May 11, 2018, at Kinzua Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Ruth was born at home in Cable Hollow on November 2, 1922. She was the daughter of the late Archie David and Nina May (McCoy) Pasco.
Ruth was a 1940 graduate of Russell High School. She had been employed at the New Process Company and had worked in housekeeping at the Edgewood Motel. She also sold Avon and worked on the farm that she and her husband purchased. She was a member of the former First Evangelical United Brethren Church until their closing, and then was a member of the former Salem United Methodist Church and was currently a member of the Covenant United Methodist Church. She was a children's Sunday School teacher, a member of the quilting ministry, and a regular contributor in the church newsletter, The Epistle. She enjoyed cooking, working in her vegetable garden, and camping with her family at Red Oak and Hidden Valley on Memorial Day weekend and the 4th of July.
She is survived by one son, John D. Dickey, of Warren; one sister, Carol Pangborn, of Russell; eight grandchildren, David Bednez, and wife, Jennifer, Toby Bednez, and wife, Valerie, Jamey Bednez, and wife, Lauren, Katey Russo, and husband, Tony, Melissa Dickey Burnum, and husband, Michael, Shauna Dickey Gilley, and husband, Wes, Herb Proctor, and Dylan Proctor; five great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death on September 21, 1979, by her husband, John Henry Dickey, whom she married January 22, 1946, at the Cable Hollow Church; three children, Martin Dickey, in 2008, Debra Haskins, in 2010, and Dennis Dickey, in 2015; and four siblings, Neva Carnahan, Mildred Holt, Dorothy Schuyler, and Robert Pasco.
Friends will be received at the Peterson - Blick Funeral Home, Inc, 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren Tuesday, May 15, from 4 to 6 p.m., at which time a funeral service will be held there with Rev. Ralph Culp, pastor, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial contribution should consider Covenant United Methodist Church, 1624 Pennsylvania Ave., E., Warren, PA 16365, or Hospice of Warren County, 1 Main Avenue, Warren, PA 16365.
