Ruth E. McQuillen Bloom, 95, of Russell, PA, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2017 at the Rouse Home. Ruth was born June 3, 1922 in Portage, PA, the daughter of the late Harry and Edith Roberts McQuillen. She was a graduate of the Portage High School. She was a member of the Lander United Methodist Church, where her husband pastored for many years, and more recently attended the Mission Covenant Church in Sugar Grove. She was a member of the Anchor Class, Koinonia, and the Church Choir. Ruth was an excellent wife, homemaker, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed her church, the Lord, and especially family. She is survived by two children, B. Terry Bloom and his wife Lucy, of Holidaysburg PA, and a daughter Karen R. Braley and her husband Ed of Lander PA; three grandchildren Tammy Aupperle, Gene Bloom, and Emily Braley; three great-grandchildren Austin Bloom, Hannah Bloom, and Rebekah Aupperle; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death on August 8, 2009 by her husband, Rev. Bernard W. Bloom, who she married on July 25, 1941 in Winchester Virginia; her siblings Mae Rogers, Susie Anderson, Toni Botteicher, Tootie Nelson, John McQuillen and infant brother Harry McQuillen; and a grandson Todd Allen Bloom. Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc. 1003 Penna Ave East on Monday July 17 from 5-8 p.m. Friends will also be received Tuesday July 18, at the Mission Covenant Church for one hour prior to a funeral service to be held there at 11:00 a.m., with Rev.
