Rowena Lynn Nelson, 73, of Russell, PA, died Friday, July 28, 2017, at the John Blair Hospice House, following an extended illness.  Rowena was born December 15, 1943, in Norvelt, PA. She was the daughter of the late Fred L. the late Dollie (Carnes) Yeskey.

Rowena was a 1962 graduate of Eisenhower High School.  She had worked at numerous local businesses.  Rowena was a member of the Lander United Methodist Church.  Her grandchildren were her greatest joy in life.  Rowena also loved flowers and her fish pond before she became too ill to tend to it.

She is survived by the love of her life, Allen W. Nelson, Jr., whom she married March 6, 1965; daughter, Lynn Christine Phinney; granddaughter, Cassidy Noelle Fortman, and companion Adam Miller; grandson, Kyle Kristopher Fortman; great-grandson, Russell John Miller; sister, Patricia Carlson; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Tanski and Charlene Davidson, and husband, Les; family friend, Frank Sturdevant, Jr.; as well as nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Rowena was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Dean Yeskey.

There will be no calling hours observed.  Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
