December 18, 1927 – December 5, 2020
Roger S. Nuhfer, 92, of Warren, Pa., passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020 at the Rouse Home. He was born in Warren, Pa. to the late Harry and Thyra Sweeting Nuhfer. Roger was a 1945 graduate of Warren High School. Growing up, Roger worked at the neighboring farms, delivering milk for the Wentz Brothers Dairy. At age 17 Roger enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in Heidelberg, Germany 3rd Army HQ where he was assigned to the HQ Civil Affairs division. While in Heidelberg Staff Sgt Nuhfer met his late wife Elizabeth Adelman and they married January 8, 1949 in Warren, Pa. After his discharge in 1948, Roger went to work for Penelec at the Warren Generating Station as a Junior Chemist. He worked his way up from there to Maintenance Superintendent and retired in 1986 as the Operations Superintendent. Roger was a life member of North Star Masonic Lodge 241, life member of the Warren Elks 223, 32nd Degree Mason Coudersport Consistory, 75year Mason. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Warren, Pa. Roger liked hunting and golfing, playing cards and bingo. He also played the guitar and organ. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his children; Marshal (partner Georgia) Nuhfer of Erie, Pa., Frederick (Debra) Nuhfer of Warren, Pa., Craig (Lori) Nuhfer of Alton,Virginia, Sheldon (Teresa) of Mobile, Alabama, and Renee (Fred) Rulander of Tidioute, Pa., 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth in February, 2016, two sisters Mamie Fox and Garnett VanPelt. Services will be held and announced at a later date.
