Roberta Jean Swartz, 91, lifelong resident of North Warren passed away on October 21, 2026, at home.

Jean was born on September 27, 1935, at Warren General Hospital, the daughter of the late Hugh O. and Mae English Barrett. She attended North Warren Elementary School until 8th grade, attended Beaty Junior High School, then graduated from Warren High School in the class of 1953. After graduation, she worked 10 years at Bell Telephone Company in the Engineering Department, District Office and the Test Center. She married Wilbur (Pete) Swartz on September 12, 1959.

Jean was a member of the Child study group (Mothers Club) from 1963-1976.

She was a member of the North Warren Presbyterian Church and served on the Sessions as an Elder for 3 terms. She was also a treasurer, taught at Sunday school and helped with after-school programs.

Jean was a lifetime member of the North Warren Volunteer Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary, North Warren Volunteer Fire Department. She was the volunteer Ambulance Dispatcher for 21 years, as well as, their secretary. She was also a member of Pennsylvania Fire Police Association along with her husband.

She provided childcare at her home for over 100 children throughout the years, which was very rewarding.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband Wilbur of 55 years, on Oct 31, 2014, her brothers Hugh (Elton), William K. and Richard A. Barrett, Sr.

She is survived by her six children; William Swartz and wife, Deborah, Goldsboro, NC, Kristin Campbell, Allentown, PA, James Swartz and wife, LaRae, Sierra Vista, AZ, Thomas Swartz, Wichita Falls, TX, Robert Swartz, LaGrange NC, and Kathleen Swartz (Jeff), Warren PA; sister Leota Jones, Warren PA and brother Raymond Barrett and wife Londa, Warren PA; 10 Grandchildren, Billy (Lauren) and Matt (Sarah) Swartz, Erik (Leah) and Seth (Jade) Campbell, Cody (Lee Ellen) and Brandon (Jessica) Swartz, Michelle and Sara Swartz and Katelyn (Austin Guiher) and Carter Swartz. 11 Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; and her best friend and companion Miss Kitty.

Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc, 1003 Penn. Ave. E., Warren on Monday, October 26, from 5-8PM. On Tuesday, October 27, friends and family are welcomed to the North Warren Presbyterian Church, 200 S State Street, Warren, from 12-1 with a funeral service to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the North Warren Presbyterian Church or the Warren Public Library.
