Roberta "Birdie" A. VanOrd, 80, of Russell, PA, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at her residence. Birdie was born on January 20, 1943, in Clarendon, PA, the daughter of the late Robert and Hazel (Wilbur) Rhoades. Birdie was a 1960 graduate of Warren High School. She was a Manager for the Warren County Guide for nine years from which she retired in 2009. Birdie was a member of the Lander Community Church. She enjoyed camping, puzzles, reading, tending her flowers, and especially loved spending time with her family. Birdie is survived by her children, Robbin VanOrd of Temperanceville, VA, Randy VanOrd (Deb) of Spartensburg, PA, Roger VanOrd and companion Barb Loveless of Russell, PA, Rhonda Ryberg (Steve) of Jamestown, NY, Jerry VanOrd of Warren, PA, and Joe VanOrd of Mount Pleasant, PA; grandchildren, Graham Taylor, Clay VanOrd, Ronald Swan, Chad (Megan) VanOrd, Cayla (Jeramy) Eckman, Curtis (Emma) VanOrd, Steven Ryberg, Eric Ryberg, Joey Mackowiak, and Gavin Tuit ; great grandchildren, John, Jemma, Autum, Bowen, and baby boy due to arrive in September; brothers, Paul (Evelyn) Rhoades, Elmer (Candy) Rhoades; sisters Sandy (Leonard) Constable, Sherry Dexter, Dora (Emory) Lauffenberger, Chrissy (Douglas) Chase, Roxanne (Alan) Vanderpoel, Laura (Charles) Belgarde, and Wendy (Frank) Suppa; sister-in-law, Brenda Rhoades; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Birdie is preceded in death on September 20, 2012, by her husband, Robert "Bob" VanOrd, whom she married on July 1, 1961; three brothers, Norman, Dewey, and James Rhoades; brother-in-law, Mike Dexter; sister-in-law, Diane Rhoades. Friends will be received at Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc., 1003 Penna. Ave. E., Warren, PA, on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00pm, at which time a funeral service will be held, with Pastor Dale McMillen, Lander Community Church, officiating.
