Robert A. "Bob" Wood, 86, of Russell died at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, May 25, 2016. Bob was born October 21, 1929, in Warren. He was the son of the late Arlie and the Marie Eldridge Wood.
Bob served in the Army from 1951 to 1953, and then worked as a machinist at Rexnord for 38 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, and also a member of the Vets Club and American Legion. Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was an avid NASCAR fan.
He is survived by his wife, Sonja Gail (Cook) Wood, whom he married July 16, 1956, in Warren; four children, Debra Foster, and husband, Ed, of Starbrick, Michael Wood, of Warren, David Wood, and wife, Traci, also of Warren and Susan Munch, and husband, Steve, of Columbus, GA; nine siblings, Merle Wood, and wife, Charlotte, of Warren, Rachel Wood, of Clarendon, Nancy Basha, of Rixford, Mildred Wood, of Butler, Ruth Tannler, of Warren, Virgil Wood, and wife, Kathy, of Harborsville, NY, Janice Warner, of Reno, NV, Kathy Pedersen, of FL, and Arlene Farnsworth, of Clarendon; three grandchildren, Ashlee and Gabriel Wood, and Adam Larson; three step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his siblings, Donald Wood and Betty Wood.
Friends will be received at the First Church of the Nazarene, 907 Penn. Ave., E., Warren, on Saturday, May 28, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, at which time, a funeral service will be held there with Rev. J. Maier, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Warren County Memorial Park.
