Robert W. "Bob" Lauffenberger, age 74, of Russell, PA, died Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Warren General Hospital.
Bob was born February 11, 1940, in De Kalb, IL, the son of the late Ernest Lauffenberger and Dorothy Spicer Burdick.
Bob served in the U.S. Air Force from October 1957 to November 1960 as a radio repairman, and worked as an electrician at the Blair Corporation for many years, retiring in 2002. He enjoyed watching baseball, fishing, working on cars, and yard work. He also enjoyed cooking, and was known for his expertise in making chili, and for his great sense of humor. Bob especially loved his family, and will be deeply missed. Bob was also an avid stargazer.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Lauffenberger, whom he married on May 10, 1969, in Chicago, IL; a daughter, Carol Ann Graves, and husband, Mark, of Hot Springs, AR; two sons, SMSgt Robert Lauffenberger, and wife, June, of Yorktown, VA, and Edward Lauffenberger, and wife, DeAnna, of Russell, PA; three sisters, Katie Wittenberg, of Chicago, IL, Nancy Lauffenberger, of Paletine, IL, and Virginia Wolfe, of AZ; two brothers, Kevin Burdick of Rockford, IL, and Tom Lauffenberger, of CA; five grandchildren, Amanda Marks, Kaitlyn Lauffenberger, Elijah Lauffenberger, Kyle Lauffenberger, and Abagayle Lauffenberger; two step grandchildren, Daniel Monticue, and Cody Pound; one step great-granddaughter, Miley Monticue; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his longtime childhood friend, George Haber, Chicago, IL.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Blasco.
Friends will be received at the Peterson - Blick Funeral Home, Inc, 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, PA, on Wednesday, May 7, from 5 to 7 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2014.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Warren Cancer Center, 2 Crescent Park, Warren, PA 16365, or a charity of choice.
