Rev. Robert M. Hutchings, 84, of 289 Buchanan St., Warren, died at Warren General Hospital, on Saturday, November 2, 2002.
Mr. Hutchings was born July 3, 1918, in Terre Haute, Indiana, the son of the late John and Grace Cox Hutchings. Mr. Hutchings graduated with a BA from Franklin College, Franklin, Ill., and a Master of Divinity from Colgate Rochester Divinity School. He served as a Baptist minister at various churches in Cleveland, Cinncinnati, Sandusky, and Girard, Ohio, and later in Rochester, and Greenville, PA. While in Greenville he played violin in the symphony orchestra, and was a member of the Kiwanas Club while in Girard. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Warren, and sang in it's choir and the choir at the First United Methodist Church. He served with the Warren Ministerial Assoc., and was a Warren General Hospital and Warren Public Library Volunteer.
He is survived by his wife Paula E. Newman Hutchings, whom he married on July 30, 1943 at the First Baptist Church, Penfield, NY; one daughter: Mrs. Terry (Barbara Jean) Hallock, Warren; two sons: Richard Allen Hutchings, Dallas, TX, and Robert Mark Hutchings, Denver, Colo.; six grandchildren, and one great grandson.
Friends may call at the Peterson - Blick Funeral Home, Inc, 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, PA on Monday, November 4, for one hour prior to a funeral service that will be held at 2:00 pm, with Rev. James Gillett, pastor First Baptist Church, and Rev. Marcus Briggs, Rouse Home, Chaplain, co-officiating.
Burial will be in the Warren County Memorial Park, Warren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Warren County, Warren Public Library or Charity of choice.
