Robert  B. Dietsch, age 88, of North Warren,  passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 21, 2014, while vacationing with family in Bethany Beach, DE., where they have been going for forty nine years.

Bob was born January 19, 1926 in Warren, PA, the son of the late Russell F. and Ethel M. (Barrett) Dietsch.  He was a lifelong N. Warren resident, and a graduate of Warren High School and later Allegheny College from which he graduated in 1948 with a B.S. degree in chemistry. He proudly served in the US Navy as a hospital corpsman during WW II. He was employed at the New Process Company (later the Blair Corporation) for many years, retiring as a Vice President of Women's Merchandising as well as a member of the Board of Directors. Bob and his late wife, Donna, were of strong faith and active members of the First Presbyterian Church of Warren. and was a member of the church choir for sixty six years, serving as tenor soloist, Deacon, and Session member. A talented musician, he was a member and director of the Barbershoppers Chorus. He also sang in the Chord Cadets and Dominotes quartets and was a  tenor sololist in many community oratorios. He  was a member of the Board of Directors at ARC,  the Warren Players Club, and a Trustee  and Board Member of the Struthers Library Theatre. He was also instrumental in  the Summer Playhouse.

Bob was a member of the Conewango Men's Club, the Conewango Valley Country Club, an avid golfer, who has had three holes-in- one, and an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan. He loved playing poker and cribbage with his friends, and lunching with his classmates. Bob was a kind man, always willing to give of himself, and was a true gentleman. He was a  consummate patriarch who always put others needs before his own. He will be fondly remembered for his infectious laugh. Bob always felt his proudest accomplishment was his family.

He is survived by one daughter, Deborah Hunter and her husband Bob, of Scandia;  two sons,
Allen "Barry" Dietsch, and his wife Heather, of Orchard Park, NY, and Andrew Dietsch and his wife Dawn, of Scandia; eight grandchildren, Carrie Salapek and her husband John, of Russell, Krista Furgala and her husband Greg of GA, Erin Hunter and her partner Sarah, of Ann Arbor, MI, Lauren Hunter and her boyfriend Heath, of Harbor Creek, PA, Zach Dietsch of Buffalo, NY, Sarah Dietsch and Rachel Dietsch, both of Scandia, and Natalie Dietsch, of Orchard Park, NY and adopted granddaughter, Jennifer Valeri and husband Jarrett, Wexford, PA; seven great grandchildren, Sam and Ben Salapek, Alex and Jameson Furgala, Hudson and Cole Bujalski, and Callan Hunter-Veach; a sister-in-law, Shirley Passinger of Boardman, OH, and a brother-in -law, Bud Allen, of Green Bay, WI.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death on March 24, 2007, by his wife, Donna Allen Dietsch, whom he married on September 4, 1948 at the First Presbyterian Church in Warren; a grandson, Adam Dietsch; brother-in-law, Floyd Passinger, sister-in-law, Winnie McNally, and brother-in-law, Al McNally.

A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 300 Market Street, Warren, PA 16365,  on Saturday, August 30, at 4:00 pm, with The Rev. Jeffrey Ott, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Russell.
